Peacock Computers is robbed for second time in a month; culprits filmed, but not identified
The shoemaker’s kids have no shoes, and now the security camera importer has no security cameras, at least none that can catch the thieves who cleaned it out of — you guessed it — security cameras.
Peacock Computers was victimized for the second time within a month: Burglars this week robbed the company’s Kfar Saba warehouse of its security cameras.
The burglaries were captured by cameras installed at the site (which the burglars overlooked), Maariv reported on Thursday, but police have been unable to determine the identity of the culprits based on the footage.
Peacock Computers is considered a leading company in the field; it is one of Israel’s largest importers of security cameras. Its clients include several large companies; security and intelligence agencies; smaller businesses; and private individuals wishing to protect their homes. Over the past several years, security cameras have become one of the bestselling accessories in security packages for homes and businesses.
The burglary took place sometime during this week’s Rosh Hashanah (Jewish new year) holiday; vandals broke through one of the warehouse walls, probably with a tractor. Warehouse managers arrived on Wednesday morning to discover the breach and theft. Kfar Saba police launched an investigation, but, as with the break-in last month, have been unable to identify the perpetrators.
Aryeh Pick, the CEO of Peacock Computers, told Maariv that the security cameras in the warehouse did, in fact, record the culprits as they loaded hundreds of cameras onto a truck before fleeing the scene. “But do you know of any security cameras that can handcuff thieves?” he asked, just a little defensively.
