A security guard was stabbed to death overnight Monday at a construction site in the central city of Ness Ziona, the Israel Police said.

The man, 68, was evacuated in critical condition to the Kaplan Medical Center in nearby Rehovot, where doctors declared him dead.

The stabber escaped the scene of the crime.

Police opened an investigation and did not initially provide a suspected motive in the attack.
