Settlers clash with Palestinians near Itamar

IDF Spokesman says troops rushed in to halt violence

RAMALLAH, West Bank  — Palestinians said Jewish settlers attacked a West Bank village, beating residents and killing three sheep.

Villager Rashed Ani Jaber said dozens of armed settlers assaulted the residents of Yanoun, near the settlement of Itamar on Saturday afternoon, claiming four villagers were taken to a hospital for treatment.

Jaber said another villager was beaten after he was arrested and handcuffed by soldiers.

The IDF’s Spokesman’s office said troops rushed to the scene to find the sides throwing rocks at each other and used tear gas to disperse them. Military medics reportedly treated two Palestinians and one Israeli at the site.
