Palestinian gunmen opened fire at Israeli security personnel at a military checkpoint near the West Bank city of Bethlehem, south of Jerusalem, Sunday night.

The shooters fired at a Border Patrol post from within a vehicle, speeding away from the scene before the Israeli could return fire.

No injuries were reported in the attack, which occurred near the tunnel road leading from Jerusalem to the Gush Etzion bloc of settlements.

Security forces were combing the area for the perpetrators of the attack.

Meanwhile, four rockets were fired by Palestinians in the Gaza Strip at the southern city of Ashkelon.

The Iron Dome anti-rocket system intercepted two of the projectiles.

The other two rockets fell in open areas, causing neither injuries nor damage.
