Soldier who went missing arrives home safe and sound
20-year-old serviceman Liraz Benbenishti had vanished after leaving his base on Tuesday
A soldier who went missing on Tuesday arrived home in Ramat Gan safe and sound on Wednesday. Police reported that he had earlier contacted a family member by phone, prompting the Tel Aviv District police to call off a day-long search.
Liraz Benbenishti, 20, left his air force base near Gedera on Tuesday and police said he was last seen on Medinat Hayehudim Street in Herzliya later that day.
According to Maariv, the soldier had recently clashed with his commanding officer over a court martial he was facing concerning damage to a computer program. After his family contacted police about his disappearance, police investigators studied his home computer and discovered that Benbenishti has recently been browsing websites that address methods of suicide.
