“When I divorced 16 years ago, there was nothing in the Jewish world related to divorce, other than a get (a traditional document of Jewish divorce). A get is not spiritually uplifting, and it’s not emotionally transformative — it’s just legal paperwork… As I was thinking about what Jewish innovation is left for me to do, I thought, ‘If I can help Jewish people through their divorce, in ways that might offer some healing, that would be a nice swan song.'”
