The mission of Mayanei Hayeshua is to deliver the highest level of innovative medicine while preserving the sanctity and dignity of human life. The hospital’s motto proudly proclaims: “Professionals with Heart and Soul,” and patients and staff alike report that they have never before experienced such friendliness, such sensitivity, and such personal attention to the needs of patients and their families.

Mayanei Hayeshua is a 280-bed full-service hospital with 15 departments including Internal Medicine; Pediatrics; Multi-discipline Orthopedics; OBS/GYN; Dialysis; Children, Ear, Nose and Throat; Anesthesiology; General and Cardiac Intensive Care; Accident and Emergency; and Surgical Theaters. There are also 35 out-patient clinics including a Nephrology Clinic, a Mental Health Clinic, and a Diabetic Clinic. The staff of over 1,000 includes 210 professors, surgeons and doctors, many of whom formerly held top positions in major Israeli and international hospitals.

Mayanei Hayeshua has one of the most advanced computerized medical data archiving systems anywhere in Israel or in the world. The system has drastically reduced errors, and has facilitated greater efficiency in research activities. The hospital is also a global pioneer of the adoption of iPads which doctors and nurses use to monitor patients’ progress at all times.

Based on founder Dr. Moshe Rothschild’s view that mental health is the biggest revolution in medicine in the past 100 years, Mayanei Hayeshua has built a 7-floor Multi-Disciplinary Community Mental Health Center. The center employs a holistic, community approach to psychiatric intervention for the family. Research indicates that most patients of the mental health center would not have sought help from a conventional mental health facility for fear that the traditions and the norms of the orthodox community would not be understood.

Every month, over 1,000 babies are born in Mayanei Hayeshua. The hospital’s High-Risk Pregnancy Department and Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), are regarded as among the most advanced and safe in Israel.

In the last 5 years alone, Mayanei Hayeshua has more than tripled its scope of activities, and now serves over 250,000 patients a year. As it enters its Silver Jubilee year, the hospital is in the midst of an accelerated expansion program under the direct supervision of managing director and CEO, Shlomo Rothschild, son of the founder.

While over 5,000 surgical procedures are performed each year at Mayanei Hayeshua, a lack of sufficient surgical facilities is being felt on a daily basis by the surgeons, nurses and orderlies. In order to address this, the UK Friends of Mayanei Hayeshua are dedicating the proceeds of the 2015 Silver Jubilee Gala Dinner in London on November 30 to the much-needed expansion of the hospital’s operating theaters.
