Yair Lapid talks to The Times of Israel, with audience Q&A, Tel Aviv, March 6
ToI and the Tel Aviv International Salon host the Blue and White co-leader at ZOA House in our latest pre-election English event
Yesh Atid head Yair Lapid, whose party is running together with Benny Gantz’s Israel Resilience on the joint Blue and White slate for the April 9 elections, will be interviewed in English by Times of Israel’s editor David Horovitz at ZOA House in Tel Aviv this coming Wednesday, March 6, at 7 p.m.
The event is the latest in our series of one-on-one interviews, followed by plenty of audience Q&A, in the run-up to polling day.
The evening is co-hosted by The Times of Israel and the Tel Aviv International Salon in partnership with Konrad Adenauer Stiftung.
Entrance is free. Space is limited. Please RSVP.
Lapid served as finance minister and a member of the inner security cabinet, the forum charged with defining and implementing Israel’s foreign and defense policies, during the 19th Knesset. In the outgoing 20th Knesset, he served on the Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee and its Sub-Committee on Intelligence and the Security Services.
Before his entry into politics, Lapid was a leading television personality, having anchored the main Friday evening news program for four years and prior to that having hosted his own show for eight years on Channel 2. Between 2002 and 2013, when he founded Yesh Atid, Lapid wrote a weekly column for Yedioth Ahronoth. Lapid is also a prolific writer, having published 12 books (translated and distributed around the globe), a number of which became best-sellers in Israel. He is a two-time recipient of the “Platinum Book Award” by the Israeli Union of Publishers.
Lapid has been one of Time Magazine’s 100 most influential people, Foreign Policy Magazine’s 100 Leading Global Thinkers, and one of the Jerusalem Post’s world’s most influential Jews.
Throughout his professional life, Lapid has been active in community affairs. Among the nonprofits in which he volunteered are those assisting the underprivileged such as Aleh, Youth Renewal Fund (YRF) and Miftan Safed (which he chaired). Until he entered political life, he taught civics and media studies at a special “inner-city” high school in one of Tel Aviv-Jaffa’s poorest neighborhoods. He was also a partner in the founding of Home for Life, a residential facility for autistic youth.
Lapid lives in Tel Aviv with his wife Lihi and their three children. He is the son of journalist and former minister Yosef “Tommy” Lapid, and author Shulamit Lapid.
Space is limited, please RSVP for Yair Lapid at ZOA House, 1 Daniel Frisch Street, Tel Aviv, here.
Please also note the next event in this series: Yuli Edelstein, Likud, speaker of the Knesset, on March 17, at Ichud Olam, 86 Ben Yehuda Street, Tel Aviv. Register for Edelstein here.
