Sunday’s results; Monday’s schedule
Israeli athletes lick their wounds after a disappointing day
Gymnast Alex Shatilov finished a disappointing sixth in the men’s floor exercise on Sunday, while windsurfer Lee Korzits dropped precious points but was in joint second overall ahead of Tuesday’s final, double-points medal race. On Monday, synchronized swimming and sailing will occupy the Israeli Olympic team.
Shatilov received 15.333 points for his routine, a mark that was nowhere near the gold winning performance by China’s Zou Kai, that garnered 15.933.
Korzits finished her ninth race in the women’s RS-X sailing competition in ninth place, and the 10th race in 11th position. At the end of the day she was tied for second place overall. On Tuesday she’ll sail for a medal.
Shahar Tzuberi won his 10th and final race in the men’s RS-X competition, but that wasn’t enough to push the bronze medal winner from Beijing into the medal race in 2012.
Gil Cohen and Vered Buskila finished their fifth and sixth races of the women’s 470 sailing event, and were ranked 10th with four more races to go.
Anastasia Gloushko and Inna Yoffe finished the first day of their Synchronized Swimming event in 17th place, after a 83.400 in the first in their two qualifying swims.
Monday, August 6
The blue-and-white team have a calmer day on Monday, with just four athletes competing.
If you’ve never watched synchronized swimming, this is your chance.
Remember: Event times are listed as they appear in London — please make the right adjustments (Israelis add 2 hours; US East Coast residents subtract 5).
- Synchronized Swimming: Anastasia Gloushko and Inna Yoffe perform their second qualifying routine, 3-5pm.
- Sailing: Gideon Kliger and Eran Sela will sail races 7 and 8 between 1-2pm.
