Syrian mortar shell falls in Israel
No casualties reported in apparent spillover from civil war
A mortar shell fired from Syria landed Monday afternoon in the Israeli Golan Heights.
There were no reports of casualties or damage.
The shell was apparently fired inadvertently in a battle between regime forces and rebels and was not a retaliation for alleged Israeli airstrikes on Syrian territory over the weekend.
It fell near the border in the southern Golan Heights, not far from the Israeli town of Ramat Magshimim.
A second shell fell at the border, also causing no damage.
The IDF did not return fire.
