Tel Aviv-Jaffa named world’s fifth-best foodie town

Conde Nast Traveler puts the White City on the culinary fast track

Travel magazine Conde Nast Traveler just named Tel Aviv-Jaffa as one of the five best culinary cities in the world.

Though there still may be disagreements as to what can be called Israeli cuisine, Israel is now up there just behind Cape Town (in first place), Dubai, Hong Kong, Buenos Aires, followed by 10 other cities, including Taiwan, Singapore, Tokyo, Toronto, Sydney and London, all named in Conde Nast Traveler’s list of top 15 culinary cities.

According to the article, “Tel Aviv’s food scene has gotten hipper recently, with a revived cocktail scene fueling the party-round-the-clock locals.”

There are around 3,400 restaurants and cafes in Tel Aviv, and the city celebrates its food scene daily, commented Mayor Ron Huldai.

“We’re not just creative in high-tech,” stated the mayor.
