'Kol Oleh,' an organization to empower immigrants in the upcoming Tel Aviv elections, will hold its second candidates' debate this week

Kol Oleh, the grassroots effort to empower immigrants to Tel Aviv ahead of the 2013 municipal elections, will sponsor its second “Meet the Candidates” event on Wednesday, Oct. 2.

The event, which is free but requires registration, will feature a “round robin”-style debate with eight candidates running for city council seats in the White City. Tamar Shchory (Labor), Jonathan Javor (Tel Aviv One) and Noah Efron (City for All) will return after participating in Kol Oleh’s first debate in September, and they will be joined by five new participants: Deputy Mayor Asaf Zamir (Rov Ha’Ir); Allvia Fisher (Mother’s Party); Dan Lahat (Yesh Atid); Gaby Lasky (Meretz) and Itamar Panz, who is not running but heads the Likud office in Tel Aviv. All conversation will be held in English.

The debate will be held at Toma Bar, which is at 26 Ibn Gvirol. Doors open at 7 p.m. and those attending are encouraged to arrive early, grab a bite to eat and socialize before the discussions begin at 7:30 p.m. The restaurant will be closed to the public for the event and the debate is limited to 100 seats, so registration, which can be done at www.kololehmeetthecandidates.eventbrite.com, is crucial.

Tel Aviv municipal elections will be held on Oct. 22.
