Tel Aviv under waves of missiles

When the streets of the city that never sleeps are at a standstill, the beach will always draw diehard fans

On June 13, Israel’s Air Force began strikes on an ‘imminently’ nuclear Iran. Hours later, Iran started launching hundreds of ballistic missiles and explosives-laden drones, targeting Israeli cities.

The day after Iran’s first waves of retaliatory strikes, Tel Aviv stood still —streets empty, shops shuttered. But down by the shoreline, a few Israelis had chosen the sea over shelter.

In this short montage documentary, The Times of Israel captures quiet defiance, reflection, and resilience through spontaneous beachside interviews with those who came out to see the sunshine on a very unusual day.
