Video shows al-Qaeda-linked terrorists preparing for attack on southern border
The men, a Saudi and an Egyptian, had previously fought against Gaddafi in Libya
The two terrorists who killed an Israeli man during an attack on the border with Egypt in June had fought against Muammar Gaddafi’s forces in Libya and were affiliated with al-Qaeda, a new video released Friday reveals.
The two men, Saudi and Egyptian nationals, were shot dead in a gunfight with IDF forces after killing an Israeli construction worker at the border fence with Egypt. The 38-minute video sheds light on the men’s training regimen and their ideology within the little-known Mujahideen Shura Council of Jerusalem.
The video shows the organization’s lengthy preparations for the attack, which included surveillance of Egyptian and Israeli forces at the border and weapons training. The two terrorists’ debriefing ahead of the attack shows their plan to attack two Israeli army jeeps with an explosive device and a rocket-propelled grenade. They were then instructed to penetrate a nearby Israeli communal settlement, probably Kadesh Barnea, and kill its inhabitants.
Ahead of the attack, the men underwent a mock wedding, in which they were promised carnal pleasures in heaven and praised as martyrs in song.
Toward the end of the video, one of the men dedicated the attack to al-Qaeda leader Ayman Zawahiri and to the memory of Osama bin Laden.
The clip ends with a graphic marking the borders of Israel with its neighboring countries, displaying the sentence “The battlefield of Jihad against the Jews.”
