Three teenagers from central Israel were arrested and questioned on Sunday morning on charges of torturing and killing a cat last week.

According to the police investigation, the 15-year-olds said they fed the cat, after which it scratched them. Infuriated, the suspects dunked the animal in water, slammed it against a wall, threw it in the air and hung it by a rope.

The reports did not specify whether the cat was a stray.

After questioning, the three suspects were released to house arrest.
