Right-wing activist Itamar Ben-Gvir appealed to Attorney General Yehuda Weinstein and Police Commissioner Yohanan Danino to forbid the Go Topless march planned to take place in Tel Aviv on Friday, saying it would amount to indecent public exposure.
Ben-Gvir, whose attention is usually focused on supporting and organizing far-right and nationalist activities, wrote to the officials on Thursday “regarding the intention of those who define themselves as women’s rights activists to walk the streets of Tel Aviv… topless.”
The stated goal of the march, which is being organized by the international Go Topless organization, is to argue that women have the same right as men to go bare-chested in public.
Ben-Gvir, who has legal training, argued that the parade would rather serve to exploit the female body, and that it would be obscene.
