A truck carrying gas exploded Wednesday morning after striking two other vehicles on the major artery connecting Jerusalem and Tel Aviv
One person was killed, according to initial reports.
The truck went up in flames on Route 1 near the Daniel Junction, where the highway overlaps with Route 6.
Rescue crews were on the scene.
Footage from the site of incident showed a large fire blocking traffic heading east toward Jerusalem.
Route 6 heading south between the Ben Shemen and Daniel interchanges has been blocked off to traffic, Israel Police said, asking drivers to avoid the area.
