Trump Tower brokers see Secret Service selling point

Real estate agents trying to sell property in New York’s Trump Tower are using the owner’s newfound status as president-elect — and the requisite professional security that comes with the job — as a selling point.

According to the Politico website, brokers from Douglas Elliman, a “prominent New York real estate agency,” sent out an email advertising a Trump Tower condo costing $2.1 million using the subject line “Fifth Avenue Buyers Interested in Secret Service Protection?”

Two more brokers, Ariel Sassoon and Devin Leahy, sent out an email reading: “The New Aminity [sic] – The United States Secret Service,” Politico reported. The email advertised a one-bedroom apartment in the Fifth Avenue building.

According to the website, while the properties in Trump Tower are not owned by Donald Trump, the Trump Corporation does keep a processing fee of $2,000 for each sale in its capacity as building manager.

In the wake of the election results, the Federal Aviation Administration implemented a no-fly-zone over Trump Tower until the day of the inauguration, and the Secret Service has amplified security in and around the 58-story building.

Trump has made his $100,000,000 three-level penthouse in the building his base of operations since winning the election on November 8. He told his advisers that he wishes to spend as much time as he can in New York City, The New York Times reported last month.
