Two cyclists killed in separate accidents within 2 hours
70-year-old man hit by vehicle outside Emek Hefer; 65-year-old biking on trail near Netivot dies after sustaining unspecified injuries
Two cyclists were killed and another was injured Saturday morning in separate accidents in southern and central Israel.
A 70-year-old man was hit by a vehicle at an intersection on Route 4, outside Emek Hefer.
He was declared dead at the scene by Magen David Adom paramedics. Police have opened an investigation into the incident.
The accident reportedly caused major traffic delays in the area.
Outside the southern city of Netviot, a 65-year-old man died from injures sustained while biking on a local trail. The nature of his injuries was not immediately clear.
Magen David Adom paramedics said they had difficulty reaching the man due to his remote location, but a specialized 4×4 all terrain ambulance was called to assist the paramedics.
The man was also declared dead at the scene.
In Nes Ziona, a 40-year-old cyclist was seriously injured in a car accident. The man was taken to Asaf Harofeh hospital near Rishon Leztion for treatment, and police have opened an investigation into the crash.
