Two injured in car explosion near Acre

Two people were injured, one seriously, after a car exploded Monday morning, on Route 4 south of the coastal city of Acre.

Firefighting crews extinguished the fire on the road, near Kibbutz Kfar Masarik.

Initial reports indicated the commercial vehicle caught fire after a Freon gas balloon exploded.

A 20-year-old in the car suffered burns on 98 percent of his body and was taken to the Rambam Hospital in Haifa in critical condition. A second person in the car, age 24, was moderately injured.
