Two killed, 8-year-old seriously hurt in Thursday accidents
Pvt. Niv Galam, 19, of Migdal Haemek fatally hit by car in Lower Galilee
Two people were killed and at least seven were injured, including an eight-year-old girl, in an especially bloody day of traffic accidents Thursday.
Pvt. Niv Galam, 19, of Migdal Haemek was identified by the IDF as the young man killed in a car accident in the Lower Galilee Thursday afternoon.
Galam was hit by a car on Route 65, near the Ilaniya Junction, while he stood on the side of the road.
He was evacuated by helicopter to Poriya Hospital near Tiberias in critical condition, but died of his wounds at the hospital.
Also Thursday, a 35-year-old pedestrian was killed when he was hit by a car while standing on the side of the road on Route 4 near the southern village of Nitzanim, north of Ashkelon.
An 8-year-old girl was seriously injured in a late-Thursday accident on Route 6 near the Bakaa Jat Junction when the car she was riding in slammed into a railing at the side of the highway.
The women who were also in the car were injured. One, aged 30, was moderately hurt and the remaining two were lightly hurt.
Magen David Adom medics evacuated all four to Beilinson Hospital in Petah Tikva.
A motorcyclist, 37, was also hurt when he was hit by a car on Route 3 near the Hodaya Junction. He was evacuated in moderate condition to Barzilai Hospital in Ashkelon.
Two more people were hurt, one lightly and one moderately, in a collision between a private vehicle and a truck near the northern town of Zichron Yaakov.
