Two people were killed in an automobile crash Sunday after a commercial vehicle and a car collided head-on on a main highway near the Dead Sea.
In addition to the two fatalities, both of whom were women, one passenger was in critical condition after being trapped inside one of the vehicles, and three others suffered light to moderate injuries from the accident.
All four were evacuated by helicopter to Jerusalem’s Hadassah Ein Kerem Hospital.
The accident occurred near the north end of the Dead Sea on Route 90, a two-lane north-south highway that cuts through the West Bank along the Jordan Valley.
Police said the route would be temporarily closed to allow rescue services to treat the wounded and authorities to remove debris blocking the road.
