Two more suspects investigated in Mount Herzl disaster
Jerusalem police question two government workers on suspicion of negligence that caused a soldier's death
Jerusalem District police investigated two government employees Sunday on suspicion of negligence in the death of a soldier when a lighting rig collapsed on Mount Herzl during Independence Day preparations earlier this month.
The police suspect that the two workers, questioned under caution, inadequately checked the documents provided by the Design Group employees responsible for organizing the Independence Day ceremony.
The two are expected to be released from custody under restrictive conditions, Israel Radio reported.
2nd Lt. Hila Betzaleli was crushed to death and seven other soldiers were hurt when a massive lighting rig collapsed during rehearsals for the Independence Day ceremony.
Design Group co-owners Elad Levi and Oren Varshebski, safety consultant Itzik Tzuker, and event producer Meir Sela were arrested immediately after the accident, but were released to house arrest last week during the course of police investigations.
