UK’s RAF intercepts two Russian bombers near Scotland
Blackjack aircraft escorted out of British area of interest; planes didn't enter UK airspace

Two Russian bombers were intercepted by British fighter jets off the coast of Scotland Thursday, the UK Defense Ministry said in a statement.
The Russian “Blackjack” bombers didn’t enter British airspace, the statement said.
“We can confirm that quick reaction alert Typhoon aircraft from RAF Lossiemouth intercepted two Russian Blackjack bombers and escorted them while they were in the UK area of interest. At no point did the Russian aircraft enter UK territorial airspace,” the ministry’s spokesperson said in a statement.
Tensions between Russia and the West have heightened over the conflict in Ukraine, resulting in increased altercations between Russian and NATO aircraft.
