Wife of head of Argentinian Jewish organization shot in robbery
Argentine president calls Julio Schlosser to express solidarity, as wife hospitalized in intensive care with wounds to groin
The wife of the president of Argentina’s umbrella Jewish organization was shot during a robbery in Buenos Aires on Friday night.
Julio Schlosser, the head of the DAIA (Delegation of Argentine Israel associations) umbrella organization, and his wife were visiting friends in one of the capital’s neighborhoods when two men on motorcycles rode up and robbed the two at gunpoint.
Mrs. Sclosser was shot in the groin, according to reports in the Argentinian media, and was hospitalized in intensive care.
The assailants made off with her purse and tried to shoot her husband but the gun misfired, the police said, according to reports.
Police also said neither of them resisted the robbery.
Schlosser reportedly received a sympathy call Saturday from Argentinian President Cristina de Kirchner following the violent incident.
“I thanked her for the call and told her it was just another case of insecurity, and she expressed her solidarity and offered to help me in any way I needed,” Schlosser said, according to the Buenos Aires Herald.
