Woman indicted for breaking quarantine while infected with COVID
Prosecutors charge Netivot resident with 'an act that may spread a life-threatening disease' for visiting her father at hospital despite testing positive
State prosecutors on Monday filed charges against an Israeli woman accused of violating quarantine while infected with COVID-19.
According to the indictment filed at the Beersheba Magistrate’s Court, the 26-year-old Netivot resident broke quarantine after testing positive for COVID and came to Soroka hospital in Beersheba to visit her father.
She was charged with “an act that may spread a life-threatening disease.”
Those convicted for the offense can face up to three years in prison, though those found to have done so knowingly can be hit with a prison sentence of up to seven years.
“In the indictment it is noted that by her actions, the defendant knowingly committed an act that may spread a life-threatening disease,” a statement from the State Attorney’s Office said.
The statement said the indictment was the first of its type since enforcement resumed in September.
