A 51-year-old woman was found stabbed to death in an apartment in Bat Yam on Sunday, leading to an hours-long standoff between the police and her partner on the building’s roof, from which he eventually jumped and died.

Police told Hebrew-language media that the partner was suspected of killing the woman.

The two had recently separated, according to the Kan public broadcaster.

The Magen David Adom emergency service said medics pronounced the woman dead on the scene.

After the stabbing, the man barricaded himself on the roof of the building for long hours, as police negotiators tried to persuade him to come down.

According to Ynet, the negotiators spoke to the man in Russian, and passersby heckled him, calling him a “murderer” and a “coward.”

The nine-hour standoff ended with the man jumping off the roof of the building, falling to his death.

The couple had two children in their 20s and no criminal history, Hebrew media reported.

According to the Israel Women’s Network, 14 women have been murdered in Israel since the start of the year, 13 of them by a partner or relative.

The woman was the third person murdered in Israel within hours.

In Netanya, police said a 30-year-old man was shot and killed in what appeared to be a criminal dispute. The man was found on a street in the coastal city. Medics pronounced him dead on the scene, MDA said.

The deadly shooting in Netanya came hours after a 20-year-old man was shot and killed in Lod. Three suspects were arrested in connection with that killing.

Police said the Lod shooting was also apparently part of a criminal dispute.

The victim was rushed to the nearby Assaf Harofeh Medical Center, where he succumbed to his wounds.

Another man, 25, was moderately injured in the shooting and was being treated at the same hospital.

According to a tally by Haaretz, six people have been murdered in Israel over the past day and a half, including a 13-year-old boy.
