Zombie hordes prowl streets of Tel Aviv

Procession of the undead brings city to life for Purim

Hundreds of people took part in the annual Zombie Walk through the streets of Tel Aviv on Wednesday night as Purim celebrations began in earnest. Revelers dressed as the undead strutted their stuff in a colorful display of bloodied bodies, fake fangs, grisly gore, and lacerated limbs.

Based on the story of the Book of Esther, Purim recalls the legendary salvation of the Jewish community in Persia through covert means. Wearing costumes is a central theme during the festival that is celebrated by Jewish communities around the world.
