The relatives of three Turkish nationals who were killed by IDF commandos aboard the Mavi Marmara filed Friday for compensatory damages from the Israeli government for their losses, according to Turkish daily Hurriyet.

Thirty other plaintiffs, among them members of the press and nurses, have joined the families of Furkan Doğan, Cevdet Kılıçlar and Necdet Yıldırım in suing Israel for pain and suffering related to the May, 2010 incident, in which nine Turkish citizens were killed.

The Mavi Marmara was part of a flotilla of ships that attempted to break Israel’s blockade of the Gaza Strip. Seven Israeli soldiers were injured when the IDF boarded the ship in international waters.

The plaintiffs, collectively, are suing for 10 million Turkish lira, or approximately $5.5 million.
