The Israeli flag was flown at London’s Olympic village for the second time in a month on Monday, as the Paralympic delegation prepared for the 2012 opening ceremony set to take place on Thursday.
London’s organizing committee opted for a colorful and fun ceremony for the flag-raising. The village was turned into a street fair, with clowns and street performers prancing to the tunes of rock band Queen and entertaining the international athletes on site.
Israel’s delegation to the 2012 Paralympics consisted of 25 athletes, who were set to compete in nine different disciplines.
The athletes had high expectations of medal success.
To date Israel has won 333 medals at the Paralympics, including 113 gold medals.
