Dov Ber Marchette has spent his life exploring creativity and integrating the visual arts into traditional Jewish spirituality. Trained at the Massachusetts College of Art and the California College of Arts and Crafts, Dov Ber became an influential and successful contributor to the New Avant-Garde movement of the 60s and 70s. His work has remained popular, with exhibitions across the U.S. and Italy in recent years.
In addition to his work as a professional artist, Dov Ber taught art at Torah Academy of Boston for 20 years.
He continued to work until recent years, when he was struck by a debilitating neurodegenerative disease (his doctors have identified it as likely corticobasal degeneration, but the diagnosis is inconclusive). He later contracted COVID-19, which dramatically exacerbated his symptoms and progressed into long COVID. He is now totally dependent on care.
