The technological revolution has transformed the world of work and disrupted traditional business models across all industries. Digital technologies such as automation, generative AI and cloud computing have become crucial to global business operations, introducing the urgent need for new data driven expertise to leverage technology to sustainable growth. Consequently, the demand for professionals skilled in navigating technology-driven business environments and strategic data utilization in real world situations has never been higher.
The University of Haifa is addressing these challenges with two cutting edge international Master’s programs : MBA Technology Management and MSc Data Science.
“We understand that as technology continues to reinvent industries, we as a University need not only to adapt but also innovate in our program offerings,” says Professor Adar Ben-Eliyahu, UHaifa International’s Academic Head.” We created these programs to provide the next generation of global business leaders not only with the expertise to manage in tech-oriented industries but also harness its potential to drive forward-thinking business solutions.”
Both international programs are specifically structured to harness the dynamic synergy between academia and industry, providing students with the skills necessary to excel in high-demand career paths. The programs are taught exclusively in English, and the MSc Data Science program offers a flexible hybrid-learning mode. Additionally, the university recognizes up to 10 credits from current master’s students in the U.S., facilitating a softer transition for international students who wish to graduate at UHaifa.
MBA Technology Management
The MBA Technology Management program at the University of Haifa is designed to equip students with the knowledge and skills to navigate the complexities of the tech industry at a global scale. “We aim to blend deep technological understanding with strategic business leadership to prepare our students for top roles in the tech sector worldwide”, says Dr. David Bodoff, the Head of the program. “Our program is ideal for students aspiring to develop their career paths towards roles such as Chief Technology Officer (CTO), Director of Research & Development (R&D) or Product Management in the Hi-tech arena”.
The curriculum offers a diverse mix of core courses in business management together with specialized technology management courses. The courses include Managerial Economics, Financial Management, Marketing Management, and advanced technology-oriented courses such as Rapid Development, Digital Economics, and Dynamic Risk Management. The program focuses on real-world applicability, ensuring that the acquired theoretical knowledge is complemented with practical skills. Part of the program’s curriculum includes a special joint Seminar with East China Normal University, fostering an international perspective and offering students insights into one of the world’s largest tech markets.
The program’s one-year duration is intensive and is structured across five study periods, each spanning ten weeks. Students culminate their learning with a capstone project, which involves real-world application of their studies and serves as a bridge between their academic pursuits and professional ambitions.
MSc Data Science: Pioneering Data-Driven Solutions
Over the past decade, the data revolution has disrupted all industries, creating a peak demand for data generation and analysis across business, public, health, social and environmental sectors. Consequently, the need for skilled data scientists continues to rise rapidly. In fact, according to the US Bureau of Labor Statistics, job growth is projected at 36% by 2031 – much faster than many other occupations. As a result, acquiring higher education in this field of knowledge presents versatile career opportunities with significant earning potential.
The University of Haifa has been addressing this demand with its international 1-year Data Science Master’s program at the Department of Statistics. Led by Professor Ori Davidov, a renowned expert with significant contributions to statistical methodology, this program offers a rigorous curriculum designed to equip graduates with the critical skills needed to address complex data challenges across various sectors.
“Data science isn’t just a career path; it’s a crucial skill set for the future”, says Davidov, “With data continuously streaming from every digital interaction and transaction, the ability to analyze and derive actionable insights from that data has become more valuable than ever across all industries. This is why providing our graduates not only with technical skills but also with a mindset in applying these skills to real-world problems is the core goal of our program.”
To make this feasible, the program targets students with backgrounds in statistics, computer science, engineering, mathematics, or economics, interested in pursuing a career in data-driven fields. The study experience focuses on a blend of theoretical knowledge and practical skills in key areas such as Deep Learning, Statistical Inference, and Optimization for Data Science. Students engage in hands-on projects that emphasize real-world applications of data science. The curriculum covers a broad range of industry related data science applications, including genomics, finance, and e-commerce, ensuring that students are well prepared to enter diverse fields.
The program is taught exclusively in English in a hybrid-learning mode and can be completed in just one year, awarding an MSc. degree in Statistics specializing in Data Science from the University of Haifa. Students interested in pursuing the thesis track can complete their thesis in an additional year.
