Technion ranked among world’s top universities for tech & entrepreneurship

Two recent reports indicate that the Technion’s rigorous academic programs effectively prepare graduates for success in both industry and entrepreneurship.

Technion graduates have a high likelihood of success according to two recent independent studies. The first report, which came out earlier this year, concluded that the Technion – Israel Institute of Technology, is the leading provider of talent for major tech companies in Israel and abroad. The second report, released in September, ranked the Technion in the top ten worldwide for entrepreneurial success for undergraduates.

The release of these rankings is especially timely, as the Technion begins the academic year with a new cohort of international students participating in an immersive four-year bachelor’s degree program.

The Technion is a prestigious university globally recognized for its science and engineering, cutting-edge research, entrepreneurship, and Nobel prize winning professors. These recent reports indicate that the Technion’s rigorous academic programs effectively prepare graduates for success in both industry and entrepreneurship.

The first study concluded that major tech companies seek out Technion graduates. Conducted by business newspaper TheMarker in collaboration with Bright Data, the study analyzed the LinkedIn profiles of 8,400 bachelor’s degree graduates who joined 28 top tech firms between 2020 and 2024.

According to the data, the Technion was the leading provider of technological talent for global tech firms such as NVIDIA, Apple, Amazon, Google, Meta, Microsoft, and Intel.

“The data speaks for itself,” said Technion graduate Yaron Evron, whose commuter app MOOVIT was acquired by Intel in 2020 for $900 million, at the Technion’s last Open House event. “The Technion produces talented people who have an impact on the national and global levels.”

The second study, which listed the Technion in the top ten universities worldwide for entrepreneurial success, was conducted by international research database PitchBook. The annual ranking tallies the number of alumni entrepreneurs who have raised venture capital for their startups.

The Technion took tenth place in the ranking, which was led by the University of California, Berkeley, Stanford, and Harvard in the top three places. Israel is the only country other than the United States that took a spot in the top ten.

The Technion is one of the top universities in science, engineering, and applied research in the world, attracting students from all over Israel and abroad. Students from around the world come to Israel to learn from its world-class faculty and partake in research opportunities.

To accommodate the rise in international interest, the Technion offers a four-year bachelor’s degree program that instructs students in English for their first year, while providing intensive Hebrew classes so that students can integrate with their Hebrew-speaking classmates the next year.

“This program opens a new path for outstanding students from all over the world to earn their undergraduate degree at the Technion, a leading institution in engineering and science, and in doing so gives Israel a new generation of graduates connected to Israeli academia and society,” said Emma Afterman, Managing Director of Technion International. “The program enables students to quickly learn Hebrew and join regular faculty programs from their second year.”

For many international students, studying at the Technion means getting a prestigious bachelor’s degree at a fraction of the cost of what they might face in their home countries. For example, the average cost per student per year to attend a four-year university in the United States is roughly $40,000 a year. Tuition to the Technion costs just US$4,500 per year, and there are opportunities for state support if students choose to immigrate to Israel.

The university also has 5,000 dormitories on campus, a sports center with an Olympic swimming pool, tennis courts, soccer fields,a gym, and a diverse variety of student life events to participate in.

Students are offered flexible degree programs that include preparatory courses in math, physics, chemistry, and engineering. Students can choose from multiple fields for specialization depending on their career interests and goals. The Technion also offers opportunities for internships and research during undergraduate studies.

“The practical tools I received at the Technion – how to do a project, how to produce a technological product, how to develop it – I could not have received these things anywhere else,” said a recent Technion graduate who now works at Apple.

Technion students also experience a vibrant city lifestyle in the heart of one of Israel’s largest multicultural cities. Surrounded by beaches and entertainment options, Haifa provides a college experience that goes beyond the classroom.

The facilities, academic experience, and the aforementioned studies about the employability and success of Technion graduates have proven to be a great pull for students from abroad.
