A Palestinian attacker hurled a grenade Monday at an IDF base near Bethlehem, marking an escalation in violent incidents in the West Bank.

No one was hurt and no damage was caused in the attack, which came hours after US Secretary of State John Kerry wrapped up his 10th visit to the region.

On Christmas, an IDF patrol vehicle came under fire from a passing car near the West Bank settlement of Tekoa, in the Etzion Bloc south of Jerusalem. No injuries or damage were reported.

The soldiers on patrol reported hearing shots from a nearby vehicle, but were unable to apprehend the fleeing suspects.
