2 Jewish women say they were denied entry to Barcelona venue over Star of David necklace: ‘Free Palestine, please leave’
Two Jewish American women say they were denied entry to an LGBTQ sauna in Barcelona because one of them was wearing a Star of David necklace.
Video shows apparent staffers at the venue telling the women, who reportedly live in Barcelona, that “the question is not Jewish, is Zionist.”
One of the women responds, “They are kind of the same thing.”
Another woman tells the couple: “Free Palestine, please leave.”
Multiple bystanders appeared to watch the incident unfold on Friday evening without intervening.
“Just so everyone knows, I’m wearing a Jewish star and she asked if I am a Zionist and said I couldn’t come in,” one of the women tells the line of people outside the venue.
According to the New York Post, the women filed a report with law enforcement.
An American Jewish woman living in Barcelona reached out to me, saying that she and her wife were denied entry last night to a thermal bath, reportedly because they are Jewish.
She documented the exchange on video and filed a report with the Mossos d’Esquadra afterwards.… pic.twitter.com/oSyHNAa2M5
