Additional firefighting squads deployed to Ein Vered as blaze spreads to nearby farmland

Fire and rescue services have deployed large forces to central Israel as firefighters struggle to extinguish blazes in Ein Vered, a moshav in the region.

Another 15 firefighting squads are now reinforcing the eight squads initially dispatched to the area, alongside four firefighting planes. Additional teams are on their way, the Fire and Rescue Service says.

The fire appears to be spreading to farmland and has scorched several buildings, as police evacuate residents from the northern section of the moshav.

Police have blocked Route 553 to traffic in both directions to keep drivers away from the fire, law enforcement says. No injuries have been reported in the fires.
