Ambassador Nides says US ‘working towards a quick deescalation’

US Ambassador to Israel Tom Nides says that he is working to broker a “deescalation” of the ongoing violence between Gaza and Israel.
“Concerned about the continuing rocket launches today. We stand by Israel’s right to defend itself,” Nides tweets. “Working towards a quick deescalation.”
Nides is slated to depart his role this summer after two years in the job.
