Clip shows Israeli troops allegedly forcing West Bank boy to pose with Palestinian flag alongside gun; IDF probing

Footage emerges in which a group of soldiers in the West Bank are seen making a Palestinian boy hold up a Palestinian flag while standing alongside a gun, in an apparent bid to justify his arrest.

The apparent incident occurred in Beit Ummar, a Palestinian village north of Hebron. The exact date is unknown.

In the video, one of at least three soldiers films the boy with his phone as he stands with the flag, a submachine gun placed in front of him.

The boy then faces a wall with his arms raised, apparently part of a search, while the soldiers talk amongst themselves.

He was detained and later released, a military official says.

Responding to an inquiry, the IDF says the incident is currently under investigation and adds that disciplinary measures will be taken “in accordance with the findings.”

“The actions seen in the video are inconsistent with the values of the IDF and conduct expected of its soldiers,” the IDF says.
