The Democrats party leader Yair Golan accuses National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir of “sowing destruction and chaos” in Israeli society.

Speaking at a conference for shared society in the Givat Haviva center, Golan accuses the far-right minister, who oversees law enforcement, of using violent crime in Arab society as a cover to crack down on regular citizens.

He lambasts what he characterizes as police’s “shows of power without dealing with crime,” mentioning the controversial policy of sealing off entire Arab towns by placing cinderblocks at each entrance.

He accuses the government of turning a blind eye to the crime wave rocking Arab society, which has already claimed seven lives in 2026.

“Deserving, intelligent and industrious young people full of potential are blocked by a government that has no interest in their future, a government that persecutes them, endangers them and leaves them to die,” he says.

He appears to reiterate his commitment to join with Arab parties in order to form a potential government after concluding his speech.

As he leaves the stage, an audience member calls on the left-wing lawmaker to “commit to including the Arab politicians in the next government.”

Golan shrugs casually as if to indicate he takes no issue with the idea and embraces Ra’am chair MK Mansour Abbas, who is in the front row of the auditorium.
