Druze leader unmoved by PM’s offer of plan expressing country’s commitment to community
Add ToI as a Preferred Source on GoogleDruze leader Sheikh Mawafak Tarif says he’s happy to meet with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu tomorrow, but his intention is to discuss an amendment to the Nation state Law that many in his community have argued discriminates against them.
The assertion comes after Netanyahu met with Druze lawmakers earlier Thursday and announced that “a plan will be formulated that will express the deep commitment of the State of Israel to the Druze community.”
Tarif says he’s uninterested in new plans and only wants to focus on amending the existing Basic Law.
