Gas prices set to fall for first time since start of year

At midnight between Sunday and Monday, the price of gasoline in Israel will fall below NIS 8 per liter to NIS 7.80, the Energy Ministry announces.
As of June 1, Israelis will pay NIS 7.80 per liter of gasoline at the self-service pump, or 27 agorot (9 cents per liter) less than the price in May, the first drop in prices since the start of the year.
The Energy Ministry attributes the “significant” decline in gasoline prices to a decrease of about 5% in the dollar-shekel exchange rate, and a 4% decline in global oil prices.
In April, the price of gasoline soared above NIS 8 per liter for the first time since July 2022, as global oil prices spiked due to the war with Iran.
