Hamas chief Ismail Haniyeh accuses Israel of committing war crimes and preventing humanitarian aid from entering the Gaza Strip, as Israel pounds the blockaded territory with air strikes.

“Israeli atrocities amount to war crimes,” he says in a letter addressed to United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres that was posted on the Palestinian group’s website.

His accusations come a week after Hamas terrorists launched an unprecedented assault on Israeli border communities, killing 1,300 people, most of them civilians, and taking more than 100 hostages to Gaza.
