Hamas said demanding timeline for Israeli withdrawal from Gaza as it weighs US proposal

A Hamas source tells the Saudi Al-Hadath channel that Hamas has requested clarifications from the mediators regarding several clauses in the US plan to end the Gaza war, arguing that the group has the right to introduce changes to the plan, as Israel did.

He adds that Hamas insists on distinguishing between defensive and offensive weapons, referring to the clause in the agreement that calls for Hamas to disarm. He claims that defensive weapons are Hamas’s right and that the group rejects any international body administering the Gaza Strip, insisting that it must be Palestinians who run the enclave, even if they’re apolitical.

According to the source, Hamas is also demanding a clear timetable for the withdrawal of Israeli forces from Gaza, along with guarantees to ensure the war’s end. The US plan envisions the withdrawal being performance-based.
