Kicking off his trip to Washington, President Isaac Herzog meets with US senior energy envoy Amos Hochstein, the Biden administration’s mediator in the maritime border dispute between Israel and Lebanon.

Hochstein helped broker a deal between the sides, the signing of which he is set to attend Thursday in the Lebanese city of Naquoura, though the Israeli and Lebanese representatives will not be in the same room.

“The President and Mr. Hochstein discussed the details of the deal, its terms, and its implications for regional stability. President Herzog thanked Mr. Hochstein for his assistance in advancing the deal,” a statement from Herzog’s spokesman says.
