Houthis say they don’t seek to close key Bab al-Mandeb Strait
Add ToI as a Preferred Source on GoogleA Houthi spokesman says the Iran-backed terror group is not blocking traffic through the strategic Bab al-Mandeb Strait into the Red Sea, after declaring a maritime blockade earlier this week on its foe Saudi Arabia.
“There is no closure of Bab al-Mandab as some are suggesting,” says Mohammed Abdusalam, who is also a top Houthi negotiator, adding that the group’s position is “limited to a maritime blockade that only affects the Saudi side.”
