The IDF says it carried out airstrikes against Hamas operatives in the Gaza Strip overnight, after several Palestinian gunmen emerged from a tunnel on the Israeli side of the ceasefire line in Rafah.
According to the military, troops of the Golani Brigade who are stationed in the eastern Rafah area spotted a number of armed operatives emerging from a tunnel yesterday.
The IDF says the gunmen “violated the ceasefire agreement.” The troops then directed an airstrike, “and eliminated several of the terrorists,” the army says.
In response to the incident, the IDF says it carried out airstrikes overnight against “armed Hamas terrorists.” Palestinian media reported that the strikes killed five, including three in an attack on a Hamas police station near Khan Younis.
Dozens of Hamas operatives were believed to be trapped underground in the eastern Rafah area, on the Israeli side of the ceasefire line. The IDF has reported killing or capturing some 50 of them in recent months.
