National Committee for Administration of Gaza’s revamped logo still includes PA crest

The National Committee for the Administration of Gaza (NCAG) has again updated its logo, adopting a design resembling the Board of Peace emblem, while still maintaining the Palestinian Authority’s eagle and the Palestinian flag.

The NCAG, tasked with replacing Hamas in governing Gaza, had sparked uproar in Israel after it first updated its logo earlier this month to a design that was nearly identical to the one used by the PA.

US officials spent almost an entire day trying to negotiate between Israel and the NCAG in order to prevent a larger incident.

Ultimately, the NCAG issued a statement saying the updated logo wasn’t final and that it was toying with a series of ideas.

Israel has been adamant about not allowing the PA to play a substantive role in Gaza, arguing that it must undergo significant reforms before doing so. At the same time, it has withheld several billion dollars of funds that belong to Ramallah that has hampered the PA’s ability to operate and reform.

In the logo published on the NCAG’s website and social media accounts on Thursday, the eagle and Palestinian flag are flanked by gold olive branches identical to the ones in the Board of Peace emblem.
