Nine people were bitten by a jackal overnight while camping on the Duga beach on the Sea of Galilee, medics say.

The Magen David Adom rescue service says seven people, including a 12-year-old girl, were taken to a nearby hospital with minor bites, and two others were treated at the scene.

While the injuries are minor, the Walla news site quotes local officials as saying that the behaviour of the jackal was highly unusual, leading to fears that it could be infected with rabies.
