Traffic officer accused of exploiting police database to stalk, blackmail women with sexual content

A traffic policeman is charged with a litany of offenses after allegedly exploiting police databases to obtain private details about women in order to sexually harass and blackmail them.

Thirty-year-old Samer Sheikh, a Yarkon Precinct traffic policeman, is accused of creating fake social media accounts to contact his victims and their families.

Time and time again, the defendant “made sexually explicit propositions [to the victims], sent pornographic content to them and their family members and threatened to harm their privacy and reputations,” says the Department of Internal Police Investigations (DIPI) in a statement.

According to the indictment filed today, Sheikh exploited his position in 15 separate instances over the past several years.

He allegedly sent pornographic footage to victims’ family members multiple times, falsely claiming the women who appeared in the videos were the complainants. Prosecutors say he threatened to publish the material if the victims’ relatives failed to comply with his demands.

The officer is accused in the Haifa District Court of sexual harassment, indecent acts, extortion, invasion of privacy, fraud, and breach of trust.
