Troy Jackson chosen as Democratic nominee for Maine senate seat

Former state lawmaker and logger Troy Jackson secures the Democratic nomination for US Senate in Maine.

Jackson is taking over the spot from Graham Platner, who won the Democratic primary in June but withdrew from the race earlier this month following an allegation of sexual assault that Platner has denied.

He will face longtime GOP Sen. Susan Collins in November in a race that could decide which party controls the Senate.

Jackson, like Platner, is an outspoken critic of Israel and has adopted a number of Platner’s positions, including a pledge to end the “genocide in Gaza” and allow “no US tax dollars to Israel’s military” on his campaign website.
